Job Title: Buyer/Senior Buyer Location: Exeter Salary: £50,000-£60,000 Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent About the Role Sphere Solutions is partnering with one of the South West’s leading groundworks contractors to recruit an experienced Buyer or Senior Buyer to join their expanding procurement team based out of their Exeter office. As a core member of the commercial team, you will play a pivotal role in securing materials, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost-effective procurement across a wide portfolio of major construction projects across the region. Key Responsibilities * Source and purchase construction products and materials at the best possible prices in accordance with active contract specifications. * Compare supplier quotations, measure quantities when required, and analyse costs against initial tender allowances. * Build strong supplier relationships, negotiate rates, coordinate delivery dates with site teams, and handle order updates to prevent invoice discrepancies. * Research new product information and identify cost-effective alternative materials. * Provide regular procurement and cost analysis updates directly to the business directors. Requirements * Proven track record in a buying/procurement role, ideally within the construction or groundworks sector (~4 years' preferred). * Strong price negotiation skills and a solid understanding of market analytics to stay competitive. * High level of organisation with exceptional attention to detail and accurate record-keeping. * Ability to reliably commute to the Exeter office.
