An established and highly respected civil engineering contractor is looking to recruit an experienced Site Agent (Structures) to join the team on a major highways infrastructure project in Oxfordshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of complex structural works, working as part of a collaborative project team on a high-profile civil engineering scheme.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving site operations, maintaining programme, quality and safety standards, while leading engineers and coordinating subcontractors throughout the construction phase.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day management of structural works, ensuring construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme and budget requirements.

You'll lead site teams, coordinate resources, oversee subcontractors and maintain strong communication with the commercial, planning and engineering functions to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the safe and efficient delivery of structural works on site.
  • Lead and mentor Site Engineers and Section Engineers.
  • Assist with project planning, programming and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to ensure programme objectives are achieved.
  • Monitor progress, quality and productivity, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Maintain accurate site records, reports and project documentation.
  • Work closely with commercial teams to support contractual and cost reporting.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Chair and attend regular site coordination meetings.
  • Support project commissioning, completion and final handover.

About You

We're looking for a proactive Site Agent with a strong background in civil engineering and structural projects, who enjoys leading teams and delivering technically challenging infrastructure schemes.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Site Agent or Senior Section Engineer within a civil engineering contractor.
  • Experience delivering structural works on highways or major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and construction delivery.
  • HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Experience on National Highways or major highways frameworks.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
  • CPCS Appointed Person (Lifting Operations).
  • Auto CAD experience.
  • Strong planning and programme management skills.
