Design Engineer

Design Engineer (Design Coordination) Snowdonia £45K – £50K+ Package As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the coordination and delivery of design consultant activities to ensure they meet client requirements and programme deadlines. Acting as the technical lead on permanent works design (unless a Design Manager is present), you will ensure all design input and output deliverables are tracked, quality-checked, and communicated to the project team efficiently. You will play a vital role in fostering innovation, supporting sustainability, and contributing to the successful delivery of complex civil engineering projects across sectors including infrastructure, tunnelling, and heavy civils. Key Responsibilities * Lead and coordinate technical queries and maintain detailed records. * Manage and communicate all design comments and clarifications from meetings and workshops. * Assist in managing design programmes, ensuring deliverables are provided on schedule. * Review monthly reports from designers and produce internal reports on design progress. * Ensure all deliverables meet the client’s scope and expectations, challenging issues where required. * Attend and lead internal and external design interface meetings, tracking and assigning follow-up actions. * Oversee compliance with all relevant design management procedures and contract obligations. * Manage and control the flow of drawings and documents to the project team. * Coordinate with BIM/CAD technicians on permanent and temporary works models. * Support Temporary Works Coordinators (TWC) by acting as design lead for temporary works packages. Safety Responsibilities * Ensure compliance with CDM regulations. * Follow all individual HSQE responsibilities as set out by the organisation. Required Skills & Experience * Extensive knowledge of construction methods and ability to coach others. * Strong background in both design and construction delivery. * Clear understanding of Principal Designer Duties under CDM. * Proficient in applying digital engineering practices in both design and site environments. * Experience working on heavy civil engineering and tunnelling projects (advantageous).
