Senior Project Manager – Civil Engineering

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a leading Tier 1 main contractor delivering a landmark £120 million education infrastructure project in Carmarthenshire.

This is a flagship scheme with a 2.5-year construction programme, due to commence later this year.

Reporting directly to the Project Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading the civil engineering delivery from inception through to completion.

The early phases of the project are heavily focused on earthworks, bulk excavation and muck shift, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civils Project Manager with a strong background in large-scale infrastructure, enabling works and ground engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful delivery of the civil engineering package on a major education development.
  • Report directly to the Project Director, providing regular programme, commercial and operational updates.
  • Manage site teams, subcontractors and key stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
  • Oversee extensive earthworks, muck shift, bulk excavation and enabling works.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
  • Drive collaboration across engineering, commercial and construction teams.
  • Maintain excellent client and stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Champion health, safety, environmental and quality performance across the project.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager or Senior Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering major civil engineering projects.

You will ideally have

  • Extensive experience delivering civil engineering projects for a Tier 1 contractor or leading regional contractor.
  • Strong knowledge of earthworks, muck shift, bulk excavation, highways, infrastructure or enabling works.
  • Experience managing projects valued at £50m+.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and programme management experience.
  • Ability to build relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent).
  • SMSTS, CSCS and relevant health & safety qualifications.
