  • Plan, manage and deliver site programmes — ensuring milestones and project deliverables are met.
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, coordination, and performance; manage subcontractor packages appropriately.
  • Maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships — representing Griffiths on site, ensuring good communication, commercial transparency, and client satisfaction.
  • Manage financial and commercial performance of assigned schemes — monitor cost, margin, programme risk/opportunities, and deliver target gross-site margins.
  • Lead the site team — motivate, develop, and manage staff and subcontractors; ensure individuals’ performance and competencies align with project demands.

Person Specification – Required / Desirable Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience in civil engineering or infrastructure construction projects (e.g. highways, drainage, utilities, rail, general civils).
  • Strong leadership and team-management skills — ability to lead a site team, subcontractors, and ensure accountability.
  • Sound commercial awareness — understanding budgets, margins, cost control, subcontractor packages and delivery performance.
  • Good knowledge of HSQE, site safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Strong organisational, planning and communication skills — able to coordinate multiple activities, stakeholders, deadlines.
  • Relevant site-certifications & qualifications (e.g. CSCS, SMSTS, or equivalent; First Aid and/or Temporary Works Coordinator desirable — depending on project scope).
  • Ideally comes from a technical background for tenders, work winning, programming jobs/ write programmes etc.

Desirable:

  • Civil engineering qualification (HNC/HND or Degree) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with highways/roads, drainage, surfacing or railway-related projects (rail civil, structures etc).
  • Familiarity with NEC or similar contract forms and understanding of contract compliance and change control.
