An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced General Foreman to join a major transport infrastructure project in Cardiff that will help transform public transport connectivity across the city.
Working on a flagship scheme involving rail infrastructure, highways improvements, drainage, utility diversions and public realm works, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the highest quality standards.
This role would suit an experienced General Foreman with a strong background in civil engineering and infrastructure projects who enjoys leading teams and driving successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily site operations across designated work areas.
- Manage direct labour, subcontractors, plant and materials to ensure efficient delivery of works.
- Ensure all works are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and site-specific requirements.
- Promote and maintain a positive health, safety and environmental culture on site.
- Deliver daily briefings, toolbox talks and site inductions where required.
- Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and quality standards.
- Work closely with Site Engineers, Section Engineers and Site Management teams to coordinate works and resolve issues.
- Monitor progress against programme and proactively identify and mitigate delays.
- Ensure labour, plant and materials are available to meet programme requirements.
- Assist with short-term planning and look-ahead programmes.
- Maintain accurate site records, diaries and progress information.
- Ensure temporary works, permits and safe systems of work are implemented correctly.
- Support the management of subcontractor performance and productivity.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders and local authorities where required.
- Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working as a General Foreman, Foreman or Senior Supervisor within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Experience delivering projects involving highways, drainage, utilities, structures, earthworks or rail infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing of works.
- Proven ability to manage site teams and subcontractors effectively.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Strong commitment to health, safety and quality standards.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience working on rail, tram, highways or major transport infrastructure projects.
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
- CSCS Gold or Black Card.
- Temporary Works Supervisor qualification.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Experience working under NEC contracts.
- NRSWA Supervisor accreditation
