An opportunity has arisen for a Project Engineer to join the delivery team on a high-profile groundworks project in Bridgwater, Somerset. This role offers the chance to work across multiple aspects of project delivery, supporting project management, quality assurance, design coordination, and site engineering activities on a technically complex scheme.
The successful candidate will provide hands-on support across the project, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards, while acting as a key interface with clients and subcontractors.
The Role
- Assist with day-to-day project management, including planning, coordination, and progress reporting
- Support quality assurance activities, ensuring inspections, records, and documentation are maintained in line with procedures
- Assist with design management, reviewing drawings, method statements, and technical submissions for compliance and buildability
- Contribute to setting-out and survey activities, providing support to site engineers and survey teams
- Maintain accurate as-built records and support the preparation of handover documentation
- Liaise with clients, designers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth communication and compliance with project requirements
- Identify, report, and support resolution of technical or quality issues on site
- Support health, safety, and environmental standards across all project activities
Knowledge, Experience & Skills
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline
- Previous experience as a Project Engineer, Site Engineer, or similar role on groundworks, civils, or construction projects
- Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams
- Understanding of quality assurance processes, site engineering, and setting-out procedures
- Comfortable reviewing and interpreting drawings, specifications, and method statements
- Experience working with clients, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Strong communication skills, proactive approach, and problem-solving abilities
- Competent IT skills, including MS Office and project management or document control software
