We are currently recruiting for an experienced Setting Out Engineer / Site Engineer to join a major care home development in Bradford-on-Avon. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a significant new build project, offering a long-term programme with a well-established contractor and an experienced site team.
The project involves the construction of a large, high-quality care home, incorporating reinforced concrete foundations, structural steel, groundworks, drainage, external works, and the full building envelope through to completion. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the engineering and quality assurance elements of the project are delivered to the highest standards.
As Site Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of setting out and quality assurance across the project. Working closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager, subcontractors, and design team, you will ensure works are completed accurately, safely, and in accordance with drawings and specifications. This is a site-based role working five days per week alongside an experienced and highly skilled operational team.
Key Responsibilities:- Carry out all setting out duties using GPS and Total Station equipment.
- Set out foundations, drainage, steel frame, concrete works, roads, kerbing, services, and external works.
- Interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Produce accurate as-built surveys and maintain engineering records.
- Manage quality assurance procedures, inspections, and ITP documentation.
- Complete QA paperwork and ensure works comply with project specifications.
- Monitor dimensional accuracy and resolve engineering queries on site.
- Work closely with subcontractors to maintain programme and quality standards.
- Support the Site Management team with technical advice and engineering solutions.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
- Previous experience as a Site Engineer or Setting Out Engineer on commercial, residential, or care home developments.
- Strong background in both setting out and quality assurance.
- Experience producing QA documentation, inspections, and as-built records.
- Confident working independently while supporting the wider project team.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- CSCS Card.
- Own engineering kit is beneficial but not essential, with flexibility available depending on the agreed day rate.
