We are looking for an Estimating Assistant / Tender Enquiries Coordinator to join our Pre-Construction and Work Winning team.
This role would suit a recent graduate or someone with one to five years of relevant experience who is looking to develop their career within the construction and civil engineering industry.
Working closely with our Lead Estimators, you will coordinate tender enquiries and obtain competitive quotations for subcontract works and materials.
The information you gather will form an important part of our cost estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering projects.
You will also develop strong relationships with our supply chain partners and play a key role in supporting the company’s work-winning and procurement strategies.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organised, commercially aware and comfortable working in a busy, deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Review client tender documents, drawings and specifications.
- Prepare, issue and manage tender enquiries for subcontract works and materials.
- Obtain and compare competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Assist with the measurement and take-off of quantities from technical drawings.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with supply chain partners.
- Maintain accurate records of quotations, supplier information and communications.
- Work closely with Lead Estimators, the wider Work Winning team and the Group Buyer to identify competitive and innovative solutions.
- Coordinate with the internal Buying Department to support a smooth transition from tender stage through to project delivery.
- Manage enquiry deadlines across several live tenders and projects.
Qualifications
- The ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience of, or an interest in, measuring and taking off quantities from drawings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The confidence to communicate effectively with suppliers and subcontractors on a daily basis.
- Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- The ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing deadlines.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work closely with estimators, buyers and other members of the Pre-Construction team.
- Previous experience within construction, civil engineering, estimating, procurement or buying would be beneficial, although training and development will be provided.
