We are working with a leading UK contractor to recruit an experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager for a high-profile construction project based in Devon. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a nationally respected business delivering complex, high-value schemes across the public and private sectors.
About the Role
You’ll be the central point of contact for all Health, Safety & Wellbeing matters on site—leading, coordinating, and promoting a proactive safety culture across the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all site-based HSW initiatives and act as the project’s health & safety lead
- Cascade key HSW communications, lessons learned, and performance reports to site teams
- Chair regular Health & Safety meetings, ensuring actions are implemented and tracked
- Conduct Site Safety Inspections and record findings using digital platforms (e.g., Novade)
- Assist in developing RAMS and specialist risk assessments with subcontractors
- Ensure the Construction Phase Plan and all CDM obligations are met
- Deliver behavioural safety briefings and training across the project team
- Analyse trends from inspections and incident reports to drive continual improvement
- Review compliance documents from subcontractors and track performance
- Support investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses in line with company procedures
- Provide regular reports to senior management on key safety metrics and legal compliance
Requirements:
- Significant experience as a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of UK construction legislation, CDM, and compliance procedures
- Experience working on public sector or secure projects is advantageous
- Confident leading meetings, delivering training, and liaising with stakeholders
- Proficient in using digital safety systems such as Novade or Dalux (advantageous)
- NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualifications (essential)
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage own workload and support site teams in a fast-paced environment
