An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior project and programme leader to take a key role in the delivery of major transport and infrastructure programmes across Ireland. The position would suit someone who has operated at a senior level across complex capital investment programmes and is comfortable working with executive stakeholders, delivery partners, contractors, government bodies and other key organisations involved in major infrastructure delivery.
You will take responsibility for leading multidisciplinary teams, strengthening programme governance and controls, providing oversight and assurance, and helping major projects successfully progress from strategy and planning through to implementation and benefits realisation.
The Role
- Leading major transport and infrastructure projects and programmes across the full delivery lifecycle.
- Establishing and overseeing programme governance, assurance and reporting frameworks.
- Managing complex programme interfaces, dependencies and multi-contract delivery arrangements.
- Leading multidisciplinary teams across client organisations, delivery partners, contractors and third parties.
- Developing integrated programme assurance approaches covering risk, cost, schedule, design, change, governance and benefits realisation.
- Providing senior-level oversight of programme controls, performance and delivery risks.
- Advising senior leadership teams and programme sponsors on programme strategy, governance and delivery.
- Supporting the assessment of procurement strategies and delivery models for major capital investments.
- Producing executive and board-level reporting, translating complex programme information into clear recommendations and actions.
- Facilitating senior stakeholder meetings, workshops and programme planning sessions.
- Building strong relationships with government departments, transport authorities, infrastructure owners, regulators and delivery agencies.
- Identifying opportunities to broaden and deepen relationships across major transport and infrastructure programmes.
- Supporting and leading major proposals, tenders and framework opportunities within the sector.
Experience Required
- Significant experience delivering large-scale transport, infrastructure or capital investment programmes.
- Approximately 8+ years' relevant experience for Associate Director level or 10+ years for Director level.
- Strong project and programme management experience across complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Experience establishing and operating programme governance, assurance, monitoring and controls frameworks.
- Knowledge of major infrastructure programme delivery, including risk management, programme controls, change management, cost, schedule and performance reporting.
- Experience working across the full project lifecycle, from strategy and business case development through procurement, delivery, implementation and benefits realisation.
- Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary project and programme teams.
- The ability to work effectively with senior executives, programme sponsors and other high-level stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of the transport and infrastructure landscape, including major capital investment programmes and their associated governance, funding and delivery challenges.
- Experience working with government bodies, transport organisations, regulators, infrastructure owners or major delivery organisations would be particularly valuable.
- Previous involvement in major bids, tenders, frameworks or the development of new project opportunities.
- A strong professional network across transport, infrastructure or major capital programmes would be advantageous.
Qualifications
- A degree in engineering, business, project management or a related discipline is preferred.
- Relevant professional qualifications such as APM, PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent would also be advantageous.
