Our client is a fast growing, international PE backed Group that is looking to identify a Head of Tax. With revenues in excess of £500m, the business is continuing to scale through ambitious M&A and organic expansion. Reporting directly to the Group CFO, this is a true greenfield opportunity to build the tax capability from the ground up, transitioning from a predominantly outsourced model to a strategically aligned, in-house function. The role will span all areas of tax, working closely with external advisors, senior finance leadership, and the Board to design and implement a robust global tax framework. This will be both a hands-on and strategic-level role within a complex, growing organisation where the successful candidate will have the ability to add real value from the outset.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of establishing and embedding the Group’s global tax strategy, policies, and governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with the business’s growth objectives.
- Lead the transition from an outsourced to in-house tax model, building processes, controls, and capabilities to support a scalable function.
- Develop and implement the Group’s Transfer Pricing framework, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, optimise structures, and ensure compliance across jurisdictions.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Board and Exec, delivering commercially focused tax structuring advice across a wide range of transactions including M&A, financing and international expansion.
- Oversee global corporate tax compliance and reporting, managing external advisors and ensuring accuracy and timeliness across all filings and disclosures.
- Provide oversight of indirect and employment taxes, partnering with specialist advisors to maintain compliance and mitigate risk.
- Drive process improvements and support the development of systems and automation to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the tax function.
- Build and lead the in-house tax capability over time, including hiring, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team.
- Play a key role in wider strategic initiatives, including integration of acquisitions and broader finance transformation projects.
The Candidate
Our client seeks a high calibre, hands-on qualified Tax professional who has experience of complex, international businesses, gained within an in-house capacity or leading professional services firm. You will be commercially minded and proactive, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment undergoing significant change. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, with the confidence to influence at Board level and work closely with senior leadership.
