Our client is a fast-growing, profitable and entrepreneurial FMCG business with an excellent reputation for its pioneering approach and product excellence within its market. Having built strong foundations, the business is now embarking on an ambitious new phase of growth, combining organic expansion with an active acquisition strategy, and the appointment of a new CFO is a critical part of this journey.

As a key member of the Executive Leadership team, the CFO will act as a trusted right hand to the CEO, playing a central role in shaping and driving the wider strategic agenda, whilst retaining full ownership of financial performance, reporting, and control. This is a high-impact leadership role for a commercially and strategically-minded finance leader with strong technical foundations, who can drive change at pace, and who will build and lead a high-calibre, value-add finance function capable of supporting the organisation as it scales.

Key responsibilities:

  • Play an active role as a key member of the Executive team, partnering closely with the CEO and Board to shape strategy and drive a step-change in operational performance across the business.
  • Take full ownership of financial control, reporting and governance across the Group, including statutory reporting, audit management and regulatory compliance, ensuring a robust control environment as the business scales.
  • Develop and lead a value-add finance team, building out the Group's FP&A and finance business partnering capability to deliver high-quality management information, insightful analysis and real commercial value.
  • Own and deliver the financial strategy that underpins an ambitious growth plan through organic growth, new sales channels, product development, and M&A, working with senior commercial leadership to shape and stretch the wider business plan.
  • Lead on future M&A activity, from target identification and evaluation through to deal structuring, due diligence and post-acquisition integration.
  • Drive improved profitability across an increasingly multi-channel commercial model, with a strong focus on margin performance.
  • Improve working capital performance and cash conversion, partnering with operations and supply chain to enhance efficiency and capacity.
  • Champion investment in systems and digital capability, including advanced ERP tools, data analytics and reporting tools, AI and automation.
  • Identify, secure and structure future funding as required to support capital investment, facility expansion and acquisition activity.
  • Act as a key external-facing figure for the business in dealings with funders, investors and other important external stakeholders.

Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will be a high-calibre, qualified accountant with a strong technical foundation and a track record of senior finance leadership within FMCG, wider manufacturing, or other consumer products environments. You will be an effective finance leader, comfortable building, developing and leading a team to deliver strong technical accounting, governance, FP&A and commercial business partnering capability. You will have a track record of enacting change within a fast-paced, growth-orientated environment, strong presentation skills, and the confidence to engage credibly with Board-level and senior stakeholder audiences. Equally important will be the resilience and communication skills to build a strong partnership with the CEO and wider stakeholders.
