- Freelance Media Strategy and Planning Director – Cross-Channel Performance
- Initial 3-Month Contract
- Immediate Start
- FTC or Day-Rate Engagement
- London
I am supporting a leading global digital agency that is looking for an experienced Media Planning Director to join its strategy and planning team for an initial three-month contract.
This is a pure media planning and strategy position rather than a client leadership or account management role.
The successful candidate will support performance-focused retail clients, developing integrated media plans built around commercial objectives and sales targets.
You will work closely with channel specialists and measurement teams, bringing their recommendations together into one clear cross-channel strategy for the client.
The Role
- Develop integrated cross-channel media plans across the full customer funnel.
- Translate business objectives and sales targets into actionable media strategies.
- Determine how different media channels should work together to drive performance.
- Brief specialist channel teams across paid search, paid social, programmatic, display, video and wider digital media.
- Interrogate channel recommendations, challenge assumptions and identify gaps.
- Bring individual channel plans together into one cohesive media narrative.
- Present clear strategic recommendations to senior client stakeholders.
- Support immediate planning requirements across performance-led retail accounts.
- Work alongside channel, data and measurement specialists rather than executing campaigns directly.
- The Person
- Strong experience working specifically within media planning, communications planning or integrated media strategy.
- Demonstrable experience developing cross-channel media plans.
- Strong understanding of digital and performance media.
- Experience planning against commercial outcomes, including revenue, sales or customer acquisition targets.
- Comfortable discussing media tactics across multiple digital channels.
- Able to brief and challenge channel specialists without needing to be the hands-on activation expert.
- Strong storytelling and presentation skills.
- Experience working with retail, ecommerce or similarly performance-focused clients would be highly beneficial.
- Is a media specialist not creative/integrated
- Available to start at short notice.
This role is unlikely to suit someone whose recent experience has primarily focused on account management, business leadership or general client services without significant hands-on media planning responsibility.
Please apply with your CV and details of your availability, preferred engagement model and rate expectations.
