The Product Stewardship Solution Engineer is a client-facing, pre-sales role that partners closely with the Sales team to understand prospective customers’ business and technical needs and demonstrate how Sphera’s solutions can address their challenges.
The Solution Engineer plays a critical role throughout the sales cycle from discovery and value assessment through solution demonstration, proposal development, and transition to implementation.
The role requires strong domain expertise in Product Stewardship, regulatory compliance, and data management, combined with the ability to engage confidently with both technical and senior business stakeholders.
The Solution Engineer serves as a trusted advisor to prospective customers, helping them understand the value of Sphera’s solutions and build compelling business cases for investment.
Responsibilities
- Act as a client-facing subject matter expert throughout the sales process, building trusted relationships with prospective customers and serving as a strategic advisor on Product Stewardship and regulatory compliance solutions.
- Participate in discovery meetings with prospective customers to understand their business objectives, current technical environment, challenges, requirements, and future needs.
- Analyze customer requirements and determine how effectively Sphera’s solutions can address their needs, while identifying potential solution gaps and opportunities.
- Conduct and/or participate in Vision Alignment, Value Assessment, and Business Operations workshops to identify customer pain points, desired business outcomes, expected ROI, and the overall value of Sphera’s solutions.
- Deliver compelling, tailored software demonstrations and technical presentations to prospective customers, including Product Stewardship professionals, IT teams, and senior executives.
- Partner with Account Executives and Sales Managers to develop effective strategies for advancing and winning sales opportunities.
- Guide sales opportunities through the Sphera sales process, ensuring appropriate best practices, methodologies, and documentation are followed.
- Support prospective customers in developing internal business cases and building the justification for investment in Sphera solutions.
- Lead or support the development of responses to customer RFIs and RFPs, providing thorough and well-written responses to functional and technical requirements.
- Maintain a strong and current knowledge of Sphera’s Product Stewardship solutions, capabilities, roadmap, and value proposition.
- Maintain strong knowledge of Product Stewardship, regulatory compliance, and data management, staying current through industry publications, regulatory updates, conferences, and other relevant sources.
- Maintain knowledge of competitive solutions, including their technical strengths, weaknesses, positioning, and potential competitive strategies.
- Partner with Product Management to communicate customer and market feedback and help inform future product enhancements and development priorities.
- Partner with Services and Implementation teams to transition discovery findings, customer requirements, solution design, and other relevant information to support a successful implementation and customer experience.
- Support marketing initiatives by participating in webinars, contributing to industry publications, presenting at conferences, and serving as a subject matter expert representing Sphera.
- Contribute to achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual sales objectives by helping Sales teams effectively position, demonstrate, and close Sphera solutions.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience implementing, using, supporting, or selling enterprise data management or software solutions, preferably within Product Stewardship or regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated domain knowledge in Product Stewardship, environmental compliance, regulatory compliance, data management, and/or enterprise software.
- Experience working in a client-facing, consulting, pre-sales, solution consulting, or solution engineering environment.
- Strong experience presenting and communicating with a range of audiences, from Product Stewardship and IT professionals to senior business leaders and executives.
- Experience delivering software demonstrations and/or technical presentations is strongly preferred.
- 2+ years of experience developing, analyzing, and responding to software RFPs/RFIs.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts and regulatory requirements into clear business value for customers.
