We’re working with a well-established organisation in York that is investing heavily in its Data, Analytics and AI capability and is looking to appoint a Senior Power BI Developer.
This is a senior hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of complex, business-critical Power BI products from initial requirements and solution design through to build, deployment, support and continuous improvement.
You’ll work closely with Data Engineering, Data Product, Data Management and wider analytics teams, helping to set technical standards and improve the quality, performance and usability of reporting across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end delivery of complex Power BI solutions
- Design and optimise scalable semantic and dimensional data models
- Develop advanced DAX, Power Query transformations and reporting solutions
- Identify and resolve Power BI performance issues
- Build intuitive, user-focused dashboards and reporting experiences
- Maintain strong standards across governance, security, documentation and deployment
- Work with stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into effective data products
- Lead technical reviews and support the development of other BI developers and analysts
- Help improve existing reporting environments and reduce unnecessary or duplicated reporting
Skills & Experience:
We’re looking for someone with strong experience across:
- Power BI
- Advanced DAX
- Power Query
- Semantic and dimensional modelling
- SQL
- Performance optimisation
- Power BI workspaces and deployment pipelines
- Source control and release management
- Enterprise or business-critical reporting environments
You should also be comfortable taking ownership of technical decisions, working with senior stakeholders and mentoring or reviewing the work of other developers.
Experience with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric or Google Cloud Platform would be beneficial, alongside exposure to UX/UI, Python, R or AI-assisted analytics.
This would suit an experienced Power BI Developer looking for a senior position where they can remain hands-on technically while having genuine influence over BI standards, architecture and delivery.
