Leading International Law Firm | June 2026 – Dec 2027 | 3 days per week | Remote
About the Programme
A leading international law firm is delivering a major transformation of its Business Intake (BIT) capability, including migration from an on-premises Intapp environment to Intapp Cloud. The programme includes:
- Full Intapp Cloud migration
- Redesign of Business Intake operating model
- Rebuild of ~120 system integrations across the application landscape
- Migration of ~117,000 client and ~627,000 matter records
- Firm-wide rollout to ~800 users across legal and business services teams
Delivery is being led by an external Implementation Partner, supported by internal IT, data and business stakeholders.
Role Purpose
We are seeking a client-side Technical Lead (Intapp-focused) to act as the firm’s independent technical challenger and assurance lead throughout the programme. This is not a solution design or architecture ownership role. The Implementation Partner will design and build the solution. This role exists to ensure:
- Technical designs are robust and appropriate
- Integration solutions will work in a real-world law firm environment
- Configuration decisions are controlled and do not introduce downstream risk
- Technical risks are identified early and challenged before build progresses
The role acts as the firm’s primary technical assurance and challenge point across integrations, configuration and delivery quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Integration & Technical Validation
- Review and challenge all integration designs produced by the Implementation Partner
- Maintain and validate an end-to-end integration inventory (current and future state)
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies and under-scoped integrations
- Challenge integration design decisions where risk, scalability or operability is in question
- Ensure integration approaches are practical, supportable and aligned to legal sector environments
- Configuration Oversight
- Review configuration decisions within Intapp Cloud
- Ensure configuration choices align to agreed standards and do not introduce operational risk
- Challenge configuration decisions where over-engineered or misaligned
- Act as approval checkpoint for key configuration decisions
- Delivery Assurance (Build & Test)
- Review build outputs against agreed design and acceptance criteria
- Validate integration builds during unit and end-to-end testing
- Support technical defect triage and resolution
- Provide written technical assessments during key delivery milestones
- Migration & Cutover Assurance
- Review migration approach and rehearsal outputs (validation role, not design ownership)
- Provide technical assurance during migration rehearsals
- Support go-live readiness reviews and risk identification
- Provide input into cutover sequencing and rollback considerations
- Governance & Technical Challenge
- Chair weekly Technical Working Group (SI, IT, Data, Test)
- Provide structured technical challenge in governance forums
- Present technical risks and recommendations to Programme Steering Group
- Support stage gate decision-making through technical assurance input
Key Deliverables
- Integration inventory (validated and maintained)
- Integration and configuration review outputs
- Weekly technical assurance reports during build phase
- Migration rehearsal assessments
- Go-live technical readiness input
- As-built technical documentation (supported with IT team)
Essential Experience
- Intapp Experience (Critical)
- Hands-on experience with Intapp Open and/or Intapp Cloud
- Strong understanding of Intapp Business Intake workflows
- Experience using Intapp in a professional services or law firm environment
- Integration & Technical Delivery
- Experience reviewing or working with complex system integrations
- Familiarity with integration platforms (e.g. Boomi, IIS or equivalent middleware)
- Ability to assess integration design quality and identify delivery risk
- Experience in complex enterprise application environments
- Law Firm / Professional Services Environment
- Experience working in UK or international law firms OR equivalent professional services environments
- Understanding of business intake processes (conflicts, matter opening, AML/KYC workflows)
- Awareness of regulatory and operational constraints in legal environments
- Assurance & Challenge Experience
- Experience acting as a client-side technical reviewer or challenger of implementation partners
- Comfortable reviewing and challenging SI design and delivery decisions
- Experience reviewing technical documentation and delivery outputs
- Communication
- Strong written communication skills
- Ability to translate technical risk into clear governance messaging
- Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders in a structured forum
Highly Desirable
- Experience with Intapp Cloud migration programmes
- Experience integrating Intapp with: Elite 3E iManage
- Exposure to legal sector transformation programmes
- Experience working with Big 4 / SI delivery teams
- Understanding of AML / SRA compliance impacts on workflow design
- TOGAF / ITIL or equivalent frameworks
What Success Looks Like
A successful candidate will:
- Identify integration risks early and prevent downstream delivery issues
- Provide credible technical challenge to the Implementation Partner
- Strengthen design quality through structured review and feedback
- Reduce surprises during testing and go-live phases
- Help ensure a stable, supportable Intapp Cloud solution at launch
Personal Attributes
- Confident challenging senior technical teams and external partners
- Pragmatic, with a focus on production reality rather than theoretical design
- Strong judgement in complex, ambiguous delivery environments
- Calm under pressure during test and go-live phases
- Comfortable operating in governance-heavy programmes
Commitment
3 days per week (increasing during build, test and go-live phases). Some flexibility required during critical delivery windows and production go-live period.
