Salary

£70,000 - £80,000 per annum plus up to 15% annual bonus.

Job Summary

They are seeking an experienced Head of Project Delivery to lead a high-performing team responsible for delivering a diverse portfolio of business and technology transformation initiatives.

This strategic leadership role will oversee project governance, portfolio management and delivery excellence, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with business objectives.

Working closely with senior stakeholders and external delivery partners, you will play a key role in shaping future investment priorities and driving continuous improvement across project delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced project delivery professional who enjoys leading teams, influencing strategic decisions and delivering complex change programmes that create measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Project Managers, supporting performance, capability development and succession planning.
  • Establish and maintain consistent project delivery standards across planning, reporting, RAID management, financial control and benefits realisation.
  • Own portfolio governance processes, including stage gates, steering groups and data-driven decision making.
  • Produce high-quality executive reporting, providing recommendations, options analysis and escalation of strategic risks.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to support supplier selection, contract management and supplier performance.
  • Oversee service transition activities, ensuring successful project handover into operational support.
  • Develop and manage annual portfolio roadmaps aligned to organisational priorities and strategic objectives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, innovation and psychological safety.
  • Ensure projects are delivered using appropriate governance frameworks while balancing commercial, regulatory and operational requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Required
  • Significant experience delivering complex IT and business transformation portfolios, programmes or projects.
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing project delivery teams.
  • Strong knowledge of project governance, planning, budgeting, financial management and risk management.
  • Experience delivering projects using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of IT Service Management principles, including service transition and operational support.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing suppliers and third-party contracts.
  • Preferred
  • Certified Scrum Master or equivalent project delivery certifications.
  • Experience within a regulated or infrastructure-based environment.
