Job Summary
Are you an experienced PMO professional with a passion for governance, controls, reporting, and portfolio management? We are seeking a Portfolio Governance & Controls Analyst to join a high-performing Portfolio Management Office supporting a diverse portfolio of approximately 100 business and technology initiatives. Working within a collaborative and evolving PMO environment, you will play a key role in ensuring effective governance, financial oversight, reporting accuracy, and portfolio controls across the organisation's change agenda. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development and maturity of the PMO function while influencing decision-making through insightful reporting, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain portfolio governance and control frameworks throughout the project and programme lifecycle.
- Monitor and report on portfolio risks, issues, dependencies, and data quality.
- Produce portfolio-level reporting and management information for governance forums and senior stakeholders.
- Track project and programme expenditure, forecasts, budgets, and benefits realisation activities.
- Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting across the portfolio.
- Support the development and standardisation of PMO processes, governance documentation, and operating procedures.
- Analyse portfolio data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and actionable insights.
- Utilise tools such as Excel, Power BI, and Power Automate to improve reporting and decision support capabilities.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and maturity of the PMO function and its ways of working.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience working as a PMO Analyst within a portfolio, enterprise PMO, or complex change environment.
- Strong experience supporting governance, controls, reporting, and assurance activities.
- Experience working across multiple projects, programmes, or portfolios simultaneously.
- Understanding of project delivery methodologies including Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within fast-paced and evolving environments.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Experience supporting large-scale transformation or change programmes.
- Exposure to PMO maturity improvement initiatives.
- Experience using Power BI and/or Power Automate.
- Background within financial services, insurance, banking, or other highly regulated or complex environments.
- Professional PMO, Project Management, or Change Management certifications.
- Governance and controls expertise.
- Portfolio reporting and analysis.
- Financial tracking and forecasting.
- Attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Proactive and self-motivated approach.
- Influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation abilities.
