Night Shift Sweeper Operator (Rochester)

Under general supervision performs the full array of duties related to the operation of complex heavy motorized street sweeping equipment to provide clean streets and other public areas; inspects sweeper and auxiliary equipment; assists in performing other street maintenance duties as assigned, and performs other related duties as required.

IDENTIFYING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Sweeper Operator is an entry-level class responsible for the operation of a street sweeper within an assigned area or route.

DUTIES:

• Travel in our sweeper truck to several locations throughout the night and perform a series of tasks at each location.
• Handpicking trash/litter from the flower bed/grass areas.
• Using a leaf blower to clear the sidewalks of trash/litter.
• Changing trash can liners.
• Cleaning curb corners.
• Cleaning loading docks.
• Cleaning in/around dumpster areas.
• Clean the Interior/Exterior of the truck.
• Perform a Pre/Post Inspection of the truck.
• Refueling and dumping material.
• Complete all assigned tasks within quality control standards.
• Document all services using paper and digital forms and/or IVR systems.
• Successfully pass a Written and Performance Evaluation by a certified company trainer.

WE WORK IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS!

A typical night would start around 9PM or 10PM and is designed for an 8hr shift.

• Must be dependable, hardworking, and willing to work in a team environment.
• Ability to perform assigned work efficiently, without direct supervision, safely, and within the company standards of quality.
• Ability to communicate, both written and orally.
• Represent the company in a positive manner.
• Have reliable transportation.
• Must have attention to detail.
• Follow all policies/rules/procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

ENVIRONMENT: Outside environment working near moving mechanical parts; travel from site to site; exposure to noise, dust, grease, fumes, gases, potentially hazardous chemicals, vibrations, and inclement weather conditions including wet and/or humid conditions; frequently work around loud noise levels. Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability; to frequently reach, twist, grasp, walk and bend in the performance of daily duties; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight; to operate assigned equipment and vehicles, and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

• Pay: $17.00 – $18.00 per hour

(Expected hours: 38 – 42 per week)
