Head of Finance | Finance Director Designate
Commencing salary £125,000 plus Bonus / Profit Share, car allowance £650 p/m + Pension & Private Health
A leading UK building contracting organisation working on prestigious projects throughout the South East is seeking a commercially astute and strategically minded Head of Finance to lead its finance function through continued growth and operational excellence.
This is a senior executive role for a chartered accountancy professional who is looking to develop their career to a board/director level role within a defined period and structured personal development programme. This role should be looked at as stepping stone into a CFO/FD role within the next 18 24months will command a significant increase in salary and profit share incentives inline with additional responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic financial leadership and insight to the Board of Directors.
- Lead financial reporting, forecasting, risk management, and compliance across the organisation.
- Drive financial performance through budgeting, scenario planning, and robust working capital strategies.
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations including payroll and statutory reporting.
- Lead and mentor the Finance team, embedding a culture of accountability and commercial support.
- Manage relationships with banks, insurers, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
- Uphold strong corporate governance and ensure full compliance with financial regulations.
What we are looking for:
- A senior, Chartered Accountant, or senior Financial Controller looking to step up with a background in construction, contracting, or engineering ideally. We will consider candidates from outside the industry if they feel suited.
- A technical understanding of construction finance, project accounting and industry-specific compliance.
- Demonstrated experience managing teams and contributing at board level in a £30100m turnover business.
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with a track record of delivering results in fast-paced, operational environments.
- A confident communicator with strong leadership presence and commercial acumen.
