We are a global leader in marine navigation systems, supporting the commercial maritime sector with integrated technical solutions. Our Engineering teams, based in New Malden (UK) and Hamburg (Germany), deliver an ambitious and growing development roadmap. An embedded PMO partners closely with Engineering to plan and deliver this work. As a Project Manager, you will lead cross‑functional engineering projects across multiple locations and disciplines. Working in close partnership with technical teams, you will apply proportionate project management to drive predictable delivery, support governance, and enable continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross‑functional engineering projects from initiation to completion.
- Co‑own delivery planning with technical leads, enabling predictable outcomes while adapting to change.
- Manage external partners where required.
- Drive delivery through structured monthly control cycles and clear governance.
- Provide accurate, transparent project reporting and clear escalation to senior stakeholders.
- Embed within technical teams (software, hardware, mechanical) as a delivery partner.
- Work closely with engineers to develop estimates, plans, and resource requirements.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships across disciplines and locations.
- Remove delivery impediments and support effective team working.
- Contribute actively to the wider PMO, sharing best practice and lessons learned.
- Support standardisation and continuous improvement across the PMO function.
- Monitor project metrics, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring financial and delivery discipline.
- Capture delivery and financial learning to improve future planning and estimation.
About You
- Proven experience managing technical or engineering projects within a gated or controlled process.
- Strong planning, facilitation, and team integration skills.
- Experience resolving resource challenges collaboratively.
- High standards of documentation, tracking and attention to detail.
- Background in engineering or R&D‑focused environments (e.g., aerospace, defence, electronics, software).
- Able to engage confidently with engineers and technical leads as a peer.
- Experience developing detailed engineering project plans across all development stages.
- Demonstrated use of PRINCE2 or similar project management methodologies.
- Strong working knowledge of project planning tools (e.g., Microsoft Project).
- Degree in Engineering or a related discipline (desirable).
