The Infrastructure team is responsible for operating and maintaining a scalable, secure and performant cloud platform to support our engineering organisation and growing user base. We are hiring a Staff Engineer (Infrastructure), who will have a strategic impact across multiple teams and technologies. We are looking for a leader who can drive forward technical initiatives, both as an individual contributor and by growing other Engineers.

This person will report to the Engineering Manager, Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership

  1. Design, build and operate production-grade AWS infrastructure within a Fintech environment.
  2. Influence and contribute to the technical direction and roadmap across engineering. Collaborate across teams to deliver high-impact technical outcomes.
  3. Mentor junior Engineers, to actively support their development.

Individual Contributor

  1. Be an individual contributor to our infrastructure code – raising the bar in terms of reliability, quality, security and cost optimisation.
  2. Take ownership of important components within our infrastructure architecture such as CI/CD, observability, container orchestration, disaster recovery, identity & access management, or cloud networking.
  3. Operational excellence – respond to incidents and participate in the Infrastructure team on-call rotation.

What We’re Looking For:

  1. 8+ years experience of professional software engineering.
  2. Excellent communication skills, fluent in written and spoken English – it is our business language.
  3. Recent experience in platform/SRE/infrastructure space, working across engineering teams to improve delivery. Experience of SaaS and/or Fintech is a bonus.
  4. Deep technical expertise in infrastructure-as-code, container orchestration and cloud architecture.
  5. Prior experience in backend software development – we’re looking for someone who can collaborate and deliver projects that span across the application & Infrastructure teams.
  6. Pragmatic mindset – ability to adapt to change, navigate ambiguity, take the initiative and proactively solve issues.

Our Stack:

  1. AWS as our cloud platform.
  2. Kubernetes for container orchestration.
  3. AWS RDS, Kafka, Elasticache, Terraform.
  4. Datadog for observability.
  5. Github for source code & CI/CD.
  6. Backend services are developed in NodeJS (Typescript).
  7. Frontend is React.
