Join to apply for the Engineering Team Lead role at Spendesk. We are looking for a talented Engineering Team Lead to join our Product, Design, and Engineering organization and help shape the future of spend management.
As an Engineering Team Lead, you will manage a team of 4 to 6 software engineers, collaborate closely with a Product Manager and Product Designer, and lead the delivery of high‑quality software against clear KPIs and SLOs. You will champion the growth and engagement of your team members, support their career development and performance management, and recognize their achievements through promotions and development plans. Although you will not be a full‑time hands‑on coder, you will remain technically involved by contributing to software architecture, troubleshooting, code reviews, and supporting your team on non‑critical technical initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the main point of contact for other squads and the product team
- Ensure high‑quality delivery from your squad
- Review pull requests and designs, and oversee technical decisions
- Lead by example and promote strong technical guidelines and robust architectural patterns
- Define and communicate clear, SMART objectives
- Foster the well‑being and growth of your squad through mentoring, regular 1:1s, and team‑building activities
- Participate actively in the hiring process
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Demonstrated experience in people management
- Strong knowledge of robust and scalable architectural patterns
- Experience working on large‑scale projects in fast‑paced environments
- Proactive approach to identifying and solving problems
- Experience in fintech is a plus, but not required
