Who We Look For

We are interested in speaking with senior lawyers who share our values and want to practise law differently.

  • Legal expertise: You will be a recognised expert in your field, typically with a minimum of 8 years’ post-qualification experience. Partners come from leading City, national and international firms, senior in-house roles, and established boutique or independent practices. Spencer West is consistently recognised in Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500, reflecting the firm’s depth of expertise and commitment to excellence.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: You will have the ambition and growth mindset to run your own practice. This may be as an individual practitioner or with a view to building and growing a team.
  • Client-centric: You will have an established or developing client following and a commitment to building long-term client relationships and growing your practice.
  • Collaborative approach: You value working alongside like-minded colleagues, sharing opportunities and contributing to a supportive international community.

Essential Requirements

  • An active practising certificate/ license to practice law with no restrictions
  • Willingness to operate on a self-employed basis (as a sole trader or via a limited company – your choice)

Our recruitment process

Our process is designed to be straightforward, professional and efficient.

  • Introductory video call with a member of the Talent Acquisition team.
  • First meeting with a member of the senior management team in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Second meeting with another member of the management team or with a colleague from a relevant location or practice area.
  • Background checks are conducted.
  • Onboarding & training on our systems and meeting various members of our support team (including marketing, accounts and technology).
