Software Engineering Leader – AI & Engineering Transformation

London (Hybrid) | Up to £150,000 + Excellent Benefits

We are working with a major international financial services organisation seeking an accomplished Software Engineering Leader to drive improvements across its engineering function and accelerate the adoption of AI-enabled development.

This is a senior, technically focused position offering the opportunity to influence engineering strategy across multiple autonomous teams. You will help create a more consistent, efficient and modern approach to software development, introducing improved engineering standards and embedding AI into the software delivery lifecycle.

You will be comfortable challenging existing practices, influencing senior stakeholders and working alongside engineering teams to deliver meaningful change without relying on direct management authority.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineering Excellence: Improve software development standards, code quality, testing, deployment processes and CI/CD maturity.
• Technical Leadership: Influence engineering and architectural decisions, encourage collaboration and establish shared technical principles.
• AI Transformation: Drive practical AI adoption across coding, testing, code reviews, documentation and application support.
• Developer Experience: Improve engineering productivity through better tooling, automation and the strategic adoption of GitHub.
• Performance & Insight: Introduce meaningful engineering metrics, including DORA and LinearB, to measure delivery effectiveness.
• Engineering Efficiency: Identify opportunities to reduce duplication, promote reusable solutions and improve consistency across teams.
• Salary up to £150,000.
