This business is undergoing a significant technology transformation and is seeking a Data Security Engineer to collaborate with data teams to ensure the security of all customer data. As data engineering becomes central to understanding the customer journey, the successful candidate will work closely with leadership in both Cyber and Data teams. This transformation programme is expected to last 3–5 years, offering excellent technical exposure and rapid career progression.

Data Security Engineer Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of comprehensive data security strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Work with the Enterprise Security Architect to design and deploy security architectures for data protection, including encryption, access controls, and data masking.
  • Manage data encryption solutions to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive data.
  • Collaborate across the Security Team to develop and deliver encryption key management processes and systems.
  • Ensure security across the Data & Analytics technology stack, which includes Oracle tools, Snowflake, Postgres, and various AWS services (SageMaker, Lambda, Step Functions, DMS, S3, etc.).

Data Security Engineer – Your Background

  • Experience in a similar role, with leadership qualities and knowledge of data security.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in a Cyber Security role, primarily focused on data security.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and regulations (e.g., NIST, GDPR).
  • Familiarity with cloud security principles and experience working with AWS and Snowflake.
  • A clear understanding of data science principles and practices.
  • Experience with security aspects of AI tooling within data science is a plus.
