We are partnering with a highly regarded, technology-driven specialty insurer to hire a Pricing Actuary into their London market pricing team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced and commercially focused environment where actuarial work plays a key role in underwriting strategy and portfolio performance. The successful candidate will focus on Construction and Specialty Property-related lines, working closely with underwriting teams to develop sophisticated pricing approaches, portfolio insights and data-driven recommendations.
The Opportunity
You'll join a high-performing actuarial pricing function supporting complex specialty insurance and reinsurance portfolios. The role offers strong exposure to senior stakeholders, broad commercial involvement and the chance to influence underwriting decisions across a strategically important area of the business. This position would suit someone who enjoys combining technical pricing expertise with commercial thinking in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance pricing models and analytical tools across specialty property lines, with a focus on Construction and related classes.
- Work closely with underwriters to support pricing decisions on both new and existing business.
- Analyse portfolio performance, identify optimisation opportunities and provide actionable insights to improve profitability.
- Produce KPIs, performance monitoring and portfolio analytics for senior stakeholders.
- Support large and complex deal pricing, including bespoke analysis and recommendations.
- Collaborate with teams across underwriting, exposure management, reinsurance and risk.
- Contribute to business planning and wider strategic pricing initiatives.
- Prepare presentations and analysis for senior leadership and external stakeholders.
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years' experience within London Market or reinsurance pricing.
- Strong actuarial pricing background, ideally within property or specialty classes.
- Progress towards actuarial qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of insurance market dynamics.
- Advanced Excel skills, including experience with stochastic modelling techniques.
- Experience with tools such as SQL, Python, R or Power BI would be highly advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, high-performance environment.
