I'm working with a high-growth, technology-led insurance business that is looking to add an Actuarial Analyst to its team.
This is a great opportunity for a part-qualified actuary who wants more than a traditional reporting-focused role. You'll have a high level of autonomy, work closely with senior stakeholders and get involved in analysis that directly influences commercial and underwriting decisions.
The business is open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, but this would particularly suit someone who has worked in a smaller, entrepreneurial or high-growth insurance environment, where they've been given the opportunity to take ownership and make an impact.
The Role
You'll sit within a performance-focused actuarial team, working across a broad mix of analysis, reporting, pricing and project work. Your work will be highly visible across the business, giving you the opportunity to understand how actuarial analysis translates into real commercial decisions. You'll work closely with teams including underwriting, claims, product, technology and finance, giving you exposure to the wider insurance business and helping you develop your commercial awareness alongside your actuarial skills.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carry out quantitative analysis using both probabilistic and deterministic approaches
- Analyse performance and provide insight to support commercial and underwriting decisions
- Support the development and improvement of pricing tools and processes
- Work with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate these into useful outputs
- Produce regular and ad hoc analysis and reporting, providing clear commentary around key findings
- Get involved in wider projects and initiatives across the actuarial and performance functions
- Take ownership of your own work and have the opportunity to influence how analysis is approached and delivered
What We're Looking For
- A degree in a numerate subject such as Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a similar discipline
- Currently studying towards an actuarial qualification
- Ideally 2+ actuarial exams passed, although relevant exemptions will also be considered
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions
- Good Excel skills and confidence working with data
- Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to problem solving
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings clearly
- Commercially curious and interested in understanding the 'why' behind the numbers
- A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership rather than simply follow a process
Why Join?
This is a fast-moving, high-energy environment where you'll be given genuine autonomy and responsibility from an early stage. Rather than being restricted to a narrow actuarial function, you'll have exposure across the wider business and see how your work directly contributes to commercial decision-making. You'll also receive strong support towards your actuarial qualification, including study support, exam leave and access to experienced colleagues and mentors.
Location: London - 3 days per week in the office
Salary: £50,000 - £70,000
Qualification: Part-qualified actuary, ideally with 2+ exams passed
