Lead MERN Developer
Leeds or Halifax, West Yorkshire
Β£350 per day (inside IR35)
We're supporting a major organisation in the search for a Lead MERN Developer to join a high-performing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong leader who enjoys balancing hands-on development with team leadership and stakeholder management responsibilities.
You'll play a key role in delivering modern, scalable applications while helping to guide a small team of developers and engaging with a broad range of business and technology stakeholders.
We are pleased to offer this role on a hybrid basis with 2 days required at either their Leeds or Halifax offices. This will be an initial 6-month contract with potential of extension thereafter.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a small team of developers, promoting engineering best practices and high-quality delivery.
- Act as a key technical point of contact for stakeholders across the business.
- Remain hands-on, contributing to architecture, design, development and code reviews.
- Build and maintain modern web applications using React, Node.js and TypeScript.
- Work closely with product, delivery and engineering teams to deliver business-critical solutions.
- Drive a quality-first approach through automated testing and continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience with TypeScript.
- Proven expertise in React and Node.js development.
- Experience leading development teams whilst remaining technically hands-on.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure or GCP.
- Unit testing experience using Jest and React Testing Library.
- Experience working within agile software development environments.
- Automated testing experience using Playwright.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience designing and delivering scalable cloud-native solutions.
