IT Application Operations Engineer

City of London (Office based)£80,000 – £95,000 per annum + annual discretionary bonus

On behalf of a valued client within the Insurance industry, I am seeking an IT Application Operations Engineer to ensure the stability, performance and reliability of their business-critical applications. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at problem-solving, and is committed to delivering high-quality service.

Due to the client facing nature of the role, you are required to be site based 5 days a week in their City of London offices and therefore must be within commutable distance of London.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain, support, and optimise core TFP applications.
• Develop custom tools and features to enhance system functionality.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and lead incident resolution.
• Manage SLAs, service performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide responsive technical support to business users.
• Drive automation and proactive issue detection through monitoring tools.
• Collaborate with Development, QA, Security, and Business teams.
• Ensure security and regulatory compliance, especially within Azure.
• Keep documentation up to date and share knowledge across IT.

Skills & Experience:

• Experience in Application Operations within a Microsoft Azure environment essential.
• Strong knowledge of Azure services, monitoring, and incident response.
• Strong working background within a Microsoft tech stack including C# .net.
• Background in automation and performance optimisation.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
