Our client, a major plant and machinery contractor, is committed to reaching net zero. Moving its fleet to electric and low-carbon power is central to that ambition, and a key challenge is delivering temporary power generation out on projects.
We are looking for a specialist with knowledge of electric and hydrogen-capable plant, charging and temporary power. You will find technology that solves real site problems, prove it through trials and turn what works into a nationwide, fleetwide solution.
This is a commercial role. Every opportunity ends with a clear decision to scale, revise or stop, based on customer demand, operational evidence and return on investment.
Reporting tothe Commercial Director, this role has a national remit , with regular travel to the projects, customer sites, depots, OEMs, trials and industry events.
Some of the key responsibilities:
- Own the sales plan for zero-emission plant, charging and temporary power across the programme
- Lead technical meetings, site surveys, demonstrations and tender support, turning site challenges into practical proposals.
- Build complete solutions covering the machine, power, charging, logistics, telemetry, training and service, not equipment in isolation.
- Convert trials into paid hire, long-term commitments and framework positions while protecting margin.
Be the expert on zero-emission plant and power
- Keep up to date on electric and hydrogen plant, battery storage, charging standards, grid constraints and site energy management.
- Match machines and power systems to the real work package: runtime, charging windows, connection capacity and contingency.
- Work with Finance on total cost of ownership, hire economics, utilisation, carbon evidence and risk.
- Produce customer material that answers the common objections on cost, runtime, reliability and readiness.
Build OEM relationships and market insight
- Develop strong relationships with OEMs, dealers, power specialists and technology providers.
- Keep a forward view of product launches, lead times, support and early-access or exclusive opportunities.
- Scan the market for technology that improves safety, sustainability, productivity or cost.
- Represent Lynch at OEM forums, the Zero Emission Accelerator and industry events.
Assess, trial and scale new technology
- Use a consistent stage-gate process to assess each opportunity on customer need, readiness, safety, capital, margin and payback.
- Prepare investment cases with Finance and Purchasing, and recommend investment only where the evidence supports it.
