LONDON

Our client is a leading international organisation. They are seeking a Junior Quality & Quantity Claims Analyst to join their London office.

This role is responsible for investigating cargo quality and quantity issues, supporting the management of marine cargo claims and contributing to proactive loss control initiatives designed to minimise operational and commercial risk.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a technical background in petroleum inspection, laboratory analysis, refinery quality assurance or cargo inspection who is looking to move into a commercial environment.

Previous claims experience is advantageous but not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided.

Initially, the role offers an even split between technical quality investigations and claims management, with increasing responsibility for identifying opportunities to prevent losses before they become claims.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of quality and quantity assurance procedures f
  • Investigate cargo quality and quantity discrepancies through the review of inspection reports, laboratory analyses, sampling records and quality certificates.
  • Assess laboratory test results against contractual specifications and recognised industry standards to determine product compliance.
  • Assist in the management, defence and recovery of cargo quality and quantity claims.
  • Gather, review and analyse voyage documentation, inspection reports, laboratory certificates, cargo measurements and other supporting evidence.
  • Support negotiations with counterparties, terminals and inspectors throughout the lifecycle of a claim.
  • Prepare technical reports, claims documentation and loss control summaries.
  • Maintain accurate claims records and associated databases.
  • Identify recurring operational or technical issues and contribute to initiatives that reduce future claims exposure.
  • Support continuous improvement across cargo quality assurance, inspection and loss prevention activities.
  • Undertake additional duties as required to support the wider business.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent industry experience.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent numerical ability and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to interpret laboratory reports, product specifications and technical documentation.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced commercial environment.
