Spencer Recruitment specialises in recruitment across Public Affairs, Corporate Communications, and PR. We are expanding our presence in the UK and are hiring a Public Affairs recruiter to build and grow a London/UK desk.
The role
You will run end-to-end recruitment for public affairs and policy roles across consultancies, corporates, membership bodies, NGOs, and regulated sectors. This is a growth role with real scope to shape a market, win clients, and become a recognised recruiter in the sector.
Key responsibilities
- Build and manage a pipeline of Public Affairs candidates (Advisor → Director/Head of)
- Develop client relationships and win retained/contingent searches
- Take briefs, advise on role design, salary benchmarking, and hiring strategy
- Source, screen, shortlist, and manage interview processes end-to-end
- Write compelling job ads and candidate profiles; manage offers and close hires
- Contribute to Spencer's brand presence in the UK (events, content, LinkedIn)
What we are looking for
- Experience in recruitment (agency or in-house), ideally in PA/communications/policy or experience working within public affairs/policy and a desire to move into recruitment
- Strong business development capability (or clear potential to develop it)
- Confident communicator — comfortable with senior stakeholders and C-suite candidates
- Commercial mindset, organised, and resilient (recruitment is a performance environment)
- Knowledge of the UK public affairs landscape is a plus (Whitehall, regulators, trade bodies, consultancies)
