About the Role
Spencer Ogden is partnering with a leading energy technology client to recruit an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to support the delivery of large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Europe. This is an exciting opportunity for a quality professional with a strong manufacturing and supplier quality background who is passionate about driving supplier performance, ensuring product quality, and supporting the successful delivery of cutting-edge renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage supplier quality activities across a global network of component manufacturers and contract suppliers.
- Conduct supplier qualification, process, and surveillance audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.
- Lead supplier non-conformance investigations, driving robust root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Monitor supplier quality performance through KPIs, scorecards, inspections, and trend analysis.
- Work closely with suppliers to improve manufacturing processes, product quality, and delivery performance.
- Support supplier selection, qualification, and ongoing development programmes.
- Review and approve supplier quality documentation including PPAPs, FAI reports, control plans, inspection plans, and quality records where applicable.
- Ensure suppliers comply with engineering specifications, quality requirements, and relevant industry standards.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Project teams to resolve supplier-related quality issues.
- Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and supplier process validations.
- Lead lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives across the supplier base.
- Travel to supplier manufacturing facilities globally to conduct audits, inspections, and quality reviews.
Candidate Requirements
- 8β12 years' experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Quality, or Supplier Development within the electrical, industrial, automotive, renewable energy, or power sectors.
- Strong experience managing quality within supplier and contract manufacturing environments.
- Proven expertise in supplier audits, supplier development, and supplier performance management.
- Excellent knowledge of quality management systems, including ISO 9001.
- Experience with electrical components, assemblies, and electromechanical products.
- Strong understanding of non-conformance management, root cause analysis, and CAPA methodologies.
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, or similar supplier quality tools is highly desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence both internal teams and external suppliers.
- Experience supporting product lifecycle management, engineering change control, and supplier qualification processes.
- Welding, fabrication, or painting quality experience would be advantageous.
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification is desirable.
Language Requirements
- Professional fluency in English is essential.
- Dutch or German language skills (B2 level or above) would be advantageous.
