Reports To: Engineering Leader — Metrology

About the Role: This role provides operational Metrology support of precision measurement across forging, machining, and assembly operations. The position is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of a world‑class metrology strategy that strengthens our measurement systems, our capability and supports long‑term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write inspection program/template for forged aerospace blades using Zeiss inspect optical 3D software.
  • Generate scan acquisition paths for forged aerospace blades for a Zeiss Scan box via VMR programming using Zeiss inspect.
  • Create Measurement reports for parts displaying graphical and tabular reports on part conformance.
  • Prove out programs and reports on Zeiss scan box to include robot path verification.
  • Perform detailed analysis of 3D measurement data, including surface deviation reports, GD&T evaluation, and process trend analysis, to support quality and engineering decisions.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure that measurement strategies align with customer requirements.
  • Produce clear and accurate technical reports that help teams understand dimensional performance and drive quality improvements.
  • Proven capability with Zeiss Inspect 3D Optical and VMR software for blue‑light 3D scanning systems, including fixture setup and scanning methodology.
  • An understanding of metrology principles, GD&T, alignment methods, datum strategies, and tolerance evaluation.
  • Ability to confidently read technical drawings, understand aerospace tolerances, and work with complex CAD data.
  • Demonstrated experience working with aero blades and drawings.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to communicate measurement findings clearly to engineering team management.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively manage priorities.

Experience:

  • Proven experience programming and operating Zeiss/GOM scan box measurement systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with Zeiss Inspect (GOM Inspect / Zeiss Quality Suite).
  • Experience supporting machining and forging environments, ideally in aerospace or high‑integrity manufacturing.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar.
  • Professional Engineering status (e.g., Eng Tech, IEng, CEng) registered with an Engineering Council affiliated Institution.
