About the Company – Offshore Substation Platform Inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of offshore substation construction, installation, and commissioning activities in a wind energy project.
About the Role – The inspector will oversee fabrication, welding, coatings, electrical, and mechanical installations while ensuring adherence to industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Conduct inspections of offshore substation structures, including steel fabrication, welding, coatings, and mechanical/electrical components.
- Verify compliance with project specifications, industry standards (ISO, IEC, DNV, etc.), and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures, environmental policies, and offshore operational protocols.
- Review and approve quality documentation, inspection test plans (ITPs), and material certificates.
- Construction & Installation Monitoring:
- Inspect offshore platform assembly, integration, and installation processes to ensure proper execution.
- Witness site acceptance tests (SAT), and commissioning activities.
- Monitor lifting, welding, and coating activities to prevent structural integrity issues.
- Oversee electrical and mechanical system installations, ensuring correct cable routing, grounding, and system connections.
- Non-Conformance Management & Reporting:
- Identify and document non-conformances, defects, and deviations from specifications.
- Coordinate with contractors and project teams to implement corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed inspection records and prepare reports on quality status and progress.
- Conduct audits and verify close-out of punch list items before commissioning.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance:
- Enforce offshore safety protocols, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and permit-to-work (PTW) requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with offshore health and safety regulations.
- Report and address any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
Qualifications – Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Marine Engineering, or a related field.
Required Skills
- Strong Knowledge of ISO, DNV, IEC, and offshore wind industry standards.
- Basic knowledge and training in welding.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
- Excellent reporting and documentation skills.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Skills
- BOSIET / GWO (Offshore Survival Training) is Mandatory
- CompEx / ATEX Certification (Electrical installations in hazardous areas) -preferred, but not mandatory
- Candidate shall demonstrate trained in electrical installation and inspection training and on-hands on inspection activity.
- IRCA QMS ISO 9001 (Lead Auditor) – preferred but not mandatory, candidate shall demonstrate trained in quality management system.
Rotation:– Offshore rotation schedule (21/21 days), 12hrs. shift at the platform in Dogger Bank.
