We are supporting a global leader in critical data centre infrastructure as they continue to expand their European technical organisation. This role forms part of a wider growth programme focused on delivering advanced high-density liquid cooling (HDLC) and intelligent power solutions to hyperscale, enterprise and colocation environments across Europe.

The position sits at the intersection of engineering and customer engagement — supporting the technical design, configuration and successful deployment of next-generation cooling and power infrastructure aligned to AI and high-performance computing growth.

AI and HPC workloads are fundamentally changing how data centres are designed, powered and cooled. Our client is working at the forefront of this transition — collaborating with hyperscale operators and technology ecosystem partners to develop and deliver integrated cooling and power solutions capable of supporting increasingly high rack densities. This role offers strong long-term career prospects as part of a growing European technical and commercial team.

As Field Application Engineer, you will act as the technical backbone of the sales process, supporting both pre-sales and post-sales phases. You will work directly with customer engineering teams to understand operational requirements and translate them into engineered solutions that meet performance, efficiency and reliability objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with customer technical teams to understand cooling and power requirements within data centre environments.
  • Analyse application needs (rack density, heat load, system architecture) and recommend suitable HDLC and intelligent power solutions.
  • Configure and specify solutions including CDUs, heat exchangers, manifolds and iPDU systems using engineering calculations and sizing tools.
  • Provide technical input for proposals, system designs and solution documentation.
  • Support demonstrations, pilot deployments and commissioning activities, including troubleshooting where required.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and internal sales teams, feeding market and technical insights back to engineering.
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree qualification in Mechanical, Thermal, Electrical or related Engineering discipline.
  • Experience as an Application Engineer, Sales Engineer or similar customer-facing technical role.
  • Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure environments.
  • Preference for exposure to liquid cooling technologies (eg cold plates, rear door heat exchangers, CDU systems) and/or critical power infrastructure.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Comfortable engaging directly with customer technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Willingness to travel across Europe (~30%).
