ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work within a multidisciplinary MEP design team providing technical leadership on mission critical infrastructure projects
  • Lead detailed electrical design activities and supervise the work of junior engineers
  • Contribute to project feasibility studies and technical due diligence activities
  • Produce detailed design specifications, equipment schedules and technical documentation
  • Support the delivery of resilient electrical infrastructure solutions for critical environments
  • Carry out condition surveys, site inspections and technical reporting activities
  • Coordinate with internal and external design teams throughout project delivery
  • Ensure compliance with relevant QA, BIM and CDM processes
  • Review designs for technical compliance, buildability and project risk
  • Support sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives within project designs
  • Attend client, contractor and design coordination meetings as required

Staff & Team Management

  • Mentor and develop junior engineering staff
  • Lead across multiple concurrent projects
  • Support performance development and technical progression within the team

Project Delivery

  • Support technical delivery from concept through to commissioning stages
  • Prepare and review technical calculations and engineering studies
  • Support fee proposals, technical bids and project planning activities
  • Attend site inspections, factory acceptance testing and integrated systems testing
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants and stakeholders to ensure design intent is maintained throughout delivery

Technical Knowledge

  • Critical power and resilient electrical infrastructure design
  • HV / MV and LV distribution systems
  • UPS systems and standby generation
  • Single point of failure analysis
  • System modelling and electrical studies
  • Integrated systems testing and commissioning
  • Cable calculations using Amtech
  • Fire alarm, security and access control systems
  • Data cabling and associated infrastructure systems

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status preferred
  • Demonstrable experience delivering data centre / mission critical projects
  • Strong background within critical infrastructure electrical design environments
  • Previous leadership or team management experience preferred
