We are seeking an experienced Excitation Technical Field Advisor (TFA) with strong PSS testing capability for several upcoming 2-week contract assignments taking place in England and Wales throughout 2026.

Role Requirements:

  • Strong technical knowledge of generator excitation systems, including AVR hardware, control logic and protection schemes.
  • Proven experience in commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of excitation and voltage-control equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and control schematics.
  • Practical experience with PSS (Power System Stabilizer) testing, tuning and parameter optimisation.
  • Understanding of power system dynamics, grid stability and generator response to disturbances.
  • Competence in using diagnostic and testing tools, including signal injectors, oscillography equipment and commissioning software.
  • Knowledge of relevant power-plant electrical standards and safety regulations.
  • Strong analytical and fault-finding skills during commissioning and operational phases.
  • Ability to produce accurate commissioning documentation, test records and technical reports.

Locations: Various power plants across England and Wales

Engagement: Contract / temporary assignment
