ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Functions

  • Work within a multidisciplinary MEP design team providing technical support on mission critical infrastructure projects
  • Deliver detailed electrical designs and support the supervision of junior engineers
  • Contribute to project feasibility studies and technical assessments
  • Produce detailed specifications, calculations, technical reports and equipment schedules
  • Support resilient electrical infrastructure design for critical environments
  • Carry out site surveys, inspections and technical reporting activities
  • Coordinate with internal and external design teams throughout project delivery
  • Support QA, BIM and CDM compliance processes
  • Review designs for technical accuracy, buildability and compliance
  • Support sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives within project designs
  • Attend design coordination, contractor and client meetings as required

Staff & Team Management

  • Support and mentor junior engineering staff
  • Contribute across multiple concurrent projects
  • Assist with technical development within the wider engineering team

Project Delivery

  • Support technical delivery from concept design through to commissioning stages
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations and technical studies
  • Support technical bids, project planning and delivery activities
  • Attend site inspections, factory acceptance testing and integrated systems testing
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery

Technical Knowledge

  • Critical power and resilient electrical infrastructure design
  • HV / MV and LV distribution systems
  • UPS systems and standby generation
  • Single point of failure analysis
  • System modelling and electrical studies
  • Integrated systems testing and commissioning
  • Cable calculations using Amtech
  • Fire alarm, security and access control systems
  • Data cabling and associated infrastructure systems

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards preferred
  • Demonstrable experience delivering data centre / mission critical projects
  • Strong technical background within critical infrastructure electrical design
  • Experience working within consultancy or client-side project environments preferred
