Spencer Ogden is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to support the delivery of complex EPC and energy infrastructure projects across the EMEA region. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineering professional with experience across high-voltage systems, renewable energy, battery storage, or utility-scale power projects. This is a hybrid position based in London with travel across EMEA as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage external engineering firms, subcontractors, and internal engineering disciplines including civil, electrical, network, and permitting teams to ensure on-time, on-budget, and high-quality project delivery.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet contractual requirements, are constructable, and account for regional and country-specific design and cost impacts.
- Lead internal and external design review meetings and ensure compliance with quality standards and project requirements.
- Promote value engineering and innovative approaches to improve system design and constructability.
- Support procurement activities through the development of construction and electrical equipment specifications and technical evaluation of vendor and subcontractor proposals.
- Review internal and subcontractor designs to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project specifications.
- Take ownership of assigned EPC turnkey projects, including MV/HV systems, within a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Manage project escalations and support resolution of technical and delivery-related issues.
- Drive strong health and safety performance across assigned projects.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes, procedures, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Travel across the EMEA region as required.
Required Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the design and delivery of utility-scale power systems, renewable energy projects, PV plants, or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) within the EMEA region.
- Strong experience within EPC environments covering HV systems, renewable generation, or conventional power infrastructure.
- Excellent technical understanding of power systems and project delivery.
- Strong stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
- Proven experience coordinating complex engineering projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Fluent English language skills.
- Additional European language skills, including German, are advantageous.
- Additional technical certifications or specialist training are beneficial.
