We’re looking for a Commissioning Home Manager to lead the opening of Spencer Grange Care Home, a brand-new, purpose-built luxury service in East Ardsley, West Yorkshire. Due for completion in July 2026, Spencer Grange offers 131 en-suite bedrooms, delivering high-quality residential, nursing and dementia care to the local community.

Set between Leeds and Wakefield, East Ardsley gives you the best of both worlds: a strong community feel, green space on your doorstep and easy access to two major cities. It’s a place where reputation matters, word travels fast and good services quickly become great ones. We are aiming to welcome our first residents by August 2026. The next 12 months will define the success of this home and you’ll be leading it.

This is a rare opportunity to take a service from first fix to full occupancy. You’ll have real autonomy to build your team, set your standards and create a home people choose both to live in and to work in. With significant investment behind the project, you’ll be trusted to deliver both outstanding care and strong commercial performance from day one.

Contract
  • £80,000 salary
  • Up to 40% annual bonus (KPI-linked)
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Pension scheme
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave
The Opportunity

You’ll lead every stage of the commissioning journey from recruitment and mobilisation through to CQC registration and opening. You’ll have full ownership on site, backed by our experienced commissioning and operational support team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all pre-opening activity: recruitment, onboarding, training and mobilisation.
  • Prepare for and support CQC registration, ensuring full compliance and readiness.
  • Build and lead a strong, values-driven team.
  • Set up effective systems, rotas, governance and operational processes.
  • Drive occupancy and commercial performance from day one.
  • Build strong local relationships with GPs, hospitals, commissioners and the wider community.
  • Lead a successful launch and achieve a Good CQC rating within the first inspection cycle.
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven experience as a Home Manager (typically 3 - 5+ years).
  • Commissioning experience is ideal, but not essential if you’ve got the drive and track record.
  • Strong understanding of CQC standards and inspection readiness.
  • A hands-on leader who builds and retains high-performing teams.
  • Commercial awareness; you will be comfortable with budgets, occupancy and local marketing.
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Level 5 qualification (or equivalent).
