As this is a mornings-only position, successful candidates will be paid at 50% of the applicable full-day rate, equating to £80-£120 per morning session depending on experience.
Spencer Clarke Group are working with a welcoming primary school in Birkenhead who are seeking an experienced Year 6 Intervention Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This role is focused on delivering targeted Maths and English interventions to Year 6 pupils, helping them close attainment gaps, build confidence and prepare for SATs and the transition to secondary school.
The successful candidate will work with small groups of pupils each morning, delivering high-quality teaching and tailored intervention programmes. The school is seeking a confident and experienced practitioner with a strong understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum and a proven ability to raise attainment. This role is not suitable for Early Career Teachers (ECTs).
The Role:
- Deliver targeted Maths and English intervention sessions to Year 6 pupils.
- Plan and prepare engaging booster lessons for small groups.
- Assess pupil progress and adapt teaching to maximise outcomes.
- Support pupils in preparing for SATs and achieving expected or higher standards.
- Liaise with Year 6 staff and senior leaders to ensure interventions complement classroom learning.
- Create a positive, focused and supportive learning environment.
- Maintain records of pupil progress and contribute to intervention planning.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- ECTs will not be considered for this position.
- Recent experience teaching Key Stage 2, ideally including Year 6.
- Strong knowledge of the Year 6 English and Maths curriculum.
- Experience delivering successful intervention or booster programmes.
- Excellent classroom management, communication and organisational skills.
