Working Pattern: Start 8:15am | Finish: Mon-Wed 4:45pm, Thu 5:00pm, Fri 4:00pm

About the School

This role is within a newly established specialist secondary SEND school opening in September in the Surrey area. The school supports young people with needs linked to social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing, often associated with autism. Students follow a broad, personalised curriculum supported through:

  • Small class sizes
  • High levels of classroom support
  • A multi-disciplinary intervention team

The aim is to provide every student with the opportunity to achieve through an adapted, nurturing, and structured learning environment.

The Role

We are seeking Teaching Assistants to join the school at an exciting early stage of development. The main purpose of the role is to support pupils with their learning, wellbeing, independence and emotional regulation, ensuring they receive the best opportunities to thrive. Work may occasionally take place at a nearby satellite site when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare and wellbeing of pupils in line with school policy (including safeguarding and PREVENT).
  • Provide feedback on pupil behaviour, attitudes, engagement and relationships.
  • Support students with positive behaviour, maintaining focus and responding appropriately to changes in behaviour.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, calm and ready to learn.
  • Promote independence, personal development and high expectations of behaviour.
  • Implement and adapt learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Reinforce concepts taught in lessons, supporting individual or small-group learning.
  • Prepare and organise resources for lessons and activities.
  • Support the delivery of a broad, balanced and personalised curriculum to enable pupils to reach their full potential.
  • Provide occasional care support where required.
