Purpose of the Role

To support pupils with Autism Spectrum Conditions, communication needs and associated social, emotional and sensory difficulties in accessing education, developing independence and achieving their individual learning goals within a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils in lessons on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning programmes.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
  • Help pupils develop communication, social and independence skills.
  • Support students with sensory needs and anxiety using agreed strategies.
  • Encourage pupil participation in classroom and school activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Prepare learning materials and classroom resources.
  • Maintain safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.
