We are working with a client in the St Helens area to recruit a Family Support Worker to assist qualified social workers in supporting, protecting, and helping families involved with Children's Social Care. This role involves providing practical, hands-on support to children and their families, contributing to assessments, delivering intervention programmes, and facilitating supervised Family Time.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support social workers with assessments, care plans, and case management.
  • Work proactively with families to build trust and engagement.
  • Deliver practical support and intervention programmes to children and families.
  • Facilitate Family Time sessions, including evenings and weekends, and assist with arrangements.
  • Ensure the voice of the child is central to all assessments and care plans.
  • Monitor family progress using tools like Signs of Safety and Graded Care Profile.
  • Attend case conferences, reviews, and meetings as required.
  • Maintain clear, accurate records in line with council procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, partner agencies, and community organisations.
  • Follow safeguarding policies, health and safety guidelines, and maintain professional standards.
Key Requirements:
  • Experience working with children, young people, and families in a social care or related setting.
  • Understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
  • Ability to engage and build positive relationships with families, including those difficult to reach.
  • Strong communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and across St Helens as required.

Contract Length: 3-6 months with a view to extend to an ongoing contract.

Pay Rate: Β£14.82 - Β£19.22

Working pattern - 37 hours per week, onsite.
