Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with a Local Authority to appoint two Interim Senior Finance Business Partners. These are hands-on assignments focused on strengthening financial management across Council services, resolving existing issues and helping service managers understand the financial implications of their decisions.

What's on Offer

  • Rate: Β£450 + per day - Flexible dependent on experience
  • Contract length: 6 months initially
  • Full-time: 37 hours per week
  • Hybrid working

The Role

The successful candidates will take ownership of allocated service areas, working closely with service managers and senior leadership to strengthen forecasting, financial planning and decision-making.

Key responsibilities:

  • Understanding individual services and identifying underlying financial issues.
  • Establishing robust forecasting arrangements.
  • Investigating overspends and developing appropriate recovery actions.
  • Identifying savings and transformation opportunities.
  • Working with services to calculate savings and understand their implications.
  • Completing full budget builds that feed into the Council's MTFS.
  • Delivering monthly and quarterly financial reporting.

About You

You will ideally have:

  • A full accountancy qualification such as CIPFA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA - essential.
  • Significant and recent District or Borough Council finance experience - essential.
  • Strong hands-on finance business partnering experience.
  • Experience resolving complex financial issues and improving forecasting.
  • A proven background in budget setting, MTFS planning, overspend management and savings delivery.
  • The confidence to challenge and influence service managers and senior stakeholders.
