We are recruiting experienced SEND Tutors to deliver high-quality, one-to-one tuition across Durham on behalf of local authorities and schools. This role involves supporting children and young people who are unable to attend mainstream education due to a range of additional needs. Many learners have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Your role is to provide tailored academic support while helping learners rebuild confidence, engagement and positive learning habits.

The Role

  • Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition in the learner's home or an agreed community setting, such as a library.
  • Adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs, abilities and EHCP outcomes.
  • Support learners with core subjects, helping them make academic progress at a pace that suits them.
  • Create a safe, engaging and positive learning environment that encourages participation and confidence.
  • Record learner progress and provide regular feedback following local authority or school requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools and case coordinators to ensure each learner receives the support they need.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
  • Experience delivering personalised teaching.
