We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary SEN Teacher with QTS to join a specialist SEN school in Heywood. This role involves working with preverbal pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), supporting their learning, communication, and development within a nurturing and structured environment.

The role:

  • Teaching and supporting primary-aged pupils with complex needs
  • Working with pupils who are preverbal and require specialist communication approaches
  • Planning and delivering engaging, individualised learning activities
  • Collaborating closely with support staff, therapists, and families
  • Creating a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment

The ideal candidate:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has experience working with SEN and/or ASC (school or specialist setting preferred)
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a child-centred approach
  • Is confident using alternative communication strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton - desirable but not essential)
  • Is committed to making a meaningful difference in pupils' lives
